Richmond will celebrate its culturally diverse playing list during this week’s AFL Multicultural Round.

The Tigers have the most culturally diverse playing list in the league, as 31 per cent of the Club’s list is either Indigenous, born overseas or has a parent born overseas.

For this Saturday night’s clash against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium, each player will wear a dedicated warm-up top during their on-ground and change-room preparation period.

In a first for Richmond, the warm-up tops will feature a national flag that each player has nominated to have heritage or strong connections with.

In the spirit of multiculturalism, the Australian flag is also displayed on the warm-up tops, which are located on the back, above the player’s surname.

Players with no strong connections to other nations are represented only by the Australian flag.

The player’s surname and playing number is displayed in orange – the colour that symbolises harmony – a key theme and message associated with multiculturalism.

In the spirit of being united, one of the Club’s key values, the entire playing list is represented on the warm-up top by a “many cultures, one game” word cloud, which represents the breakdown of each player’s nationality.

The word cloud, which is displayed at the base of the warm-up top, below the Club's co-major partner’s logo, Bingle, is a visual demonstration of the wide range of cultures and nationalities that make up the 2016 Richmond Football Club playing group.
