For a few nervous weeks, Taylor Hunt thought his AFL career was over.
After six seasons and 63 games with Geelong, Hunt suddenly found himself without a football home, until the Tigers offered him a lifeline.
The 24-year-old now has a fresh start, and an opportunity to impress a new bunch of coaches, team-mates and supporters.
“There were a couple of weeks there where I thought the dream of AFL was over,” Hunt told Roar Vision.

“I’m rapt I find myself on an AFL list, and I’m very happy that it’s down here at Richmond.
“It’s a bit nerve-wracking meeting a whole new team and getting to know my team-mates, which I’m actually looking forward to.
“I’m just really excited to get out on the track again.”
Hunt took off on a holiday shortly after finishing at the Cats, not knowing what the future might hold.
“I was away with my mum in Bali, so it took a little bit of the stress away,” he said.

“I was lucky enough to meet Damien (Hardwick) and Blair (Hartley) with my manager. We had a meeting, and came in the next day for a medical.
“From then on, I was a Richmond player.”
Of course, if Hunt had a choice of which club he ended up at, it would be the team he followed passionately as a kid.
“I was a big Richmond supporter. I used to come with my parents and my nanna. We had some reserved seat up in the Great Southern Stand,” he said.
A dozen things about Taylor Hunt
“We used to come to every game that was in Melbourne, from the age of five. I really enjoyed coming to the MCG.”
Hunt wants to be known as a determined, versatile player who gives his all for the Yellow and Black.
His aim is to be in the Tigers’ 22 when they take on Carlton at the MCG in Round 1 next season.
“I’ll be a little bit flexible. I really enjoy going through the midfield and playing on an opponent and defending,” he said.
“But at the same time, being able to attack and find my own ball, and try to be as damaging as possible.
“I know I’ve got a lot of work to do. The main priority at the moment is to get through the pre-season fit, and hopefully put my name up there for a Round 1 spot.”
