Richmond’s players may be away from the daily grind of the footy season, but they are never far from their commitment to keeping in shape.

The professional nature of the game means that even when the players are on holidays, they maintain a strict training schedule to ready themselves for the return to official pre-season training.

Tigers’ defender Bachar Houli, in the latest blog for his web site, bacharhouli.com.au, gave fans an insight into the training load of a player during the off-season.

“If you thought it’s a time to relax and do minimal training, you’ve got it wrong,” Houli said.

“The good thing about training in the off-season is doing it in your own time, and away from the Club.

“We are encouraged to train away from the Club facilities, to freshen up and enjoy a different environment.

“Personally, I enjoy training away from Richmond.  When I return to start our official pre-season training, I feel like I’ve missed the Club, the facility, and my teammates.”
