Veteran Richmond star Shane Edwards has hailed the man who has guided the Tigers to two premierships in the past three years, coach Damien Hardwick.
Edwards provided an interesting insight into why Hardwick is such a good coach, in an interview with ‘Sportsday SA’.
“He’s been amazing,” Edwards said.
“He’s really evolved into a coach that has got every base covered, to be honest. He’s got players terrified sometimes, but he’s also a father figure and he’s really compassionate when he needs to be and really understanding.
“A lot of his ideas and the things he has to do with lines, forwards, mids, defenders, young guys, things that he knows that other people know, he just delegates and trusts them.
“He really trusts his leadership group as well, which is awesome because it gives everyone a sense of responsibility.
“And he takes a lot of care in being really positive a lot of the time. I think that rubs off on to the players . . . He’s the same, whether we’re winning or losing.
“I’m his biggest fan.”
