Star Richmond midfielder Dion Prestia led the way in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award votes for last Thursday night's season opener against Carlton at the MCG.
The dual premiership Tiger and reigning Jack Dyer Medallist was awarded nine votes in the prestigious coaches’ award following a strong display in the season-opening win over the Blues.
He finished the match with 25 disposals, nine inside-50s, five tackles, one goal, two goal assists, eight score involvements and a team-high 546 metres gained.
Daniel Rioli (three goals, 12 disposals) and Dustin Martin (one goal, 24 disposals) were awarded four votes each for their efforts in the 24-point victory.
