This Sunday, Richmond will once again be involved in Midsumma, Australia's premier queer arts and cultural festival.
To celebrate the beginning Midsumma, the Club will have a presence at 'Carnival', the opening day of the annual, month-long festival held each summer.
It will mark Richmond’s third appearance at 'Carnival' after partnering with Midsumma in 2017 as the first AFL club to sponsor the festival.
Held at Alexandra Gardens, Richmond will be situated in the 'Sports Precinct' from 11.00am until 5.00pm, with plenty on offer for festival-goers.
Richmond will be showcasing its inaugural AFLW side, with players making an appearance on the main stage for a Q&A session at 1.20pm and a skills demonstration at 3.20pm.
There will also be a number of AFL players participating in activities throughout the day, as well as a signing session from 3.00pm-4.00pm.
Other activities include giveaways, a photobooth, a prize wheel and a handball activity.
The Tigerland Superstore will have merchandise available to purchase, while the membership team will be on hand to sign up for 2020.
Richmond’s Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, Rana Hussain, said partnering with Midsumma is key for the Club’s pursuit of being a truly inclusive club
"Midsumma’s support over the last few years, and in particular, guiding us with our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, has been invaluable," Hussain said.
Richmond launched its first Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan in August 2018, cementing the Club’s commitment to inclusion and belonging for all.
