Huge spike in new members
In 2011, Richmond launched “Operation 10,000”, a bold plan to sign 10,000 new members. This represented a staggering 220% growth from new members signed the pre
Members were provided with an online referral tool that they were able to send to all those Tiger supporters they knew were not members, with a view to getting them on board.
And, as an added incentive, $25,000 worth of cash and prizes was offered as reward for their referral of new members.
The member who referred the most new members for 2011 would win $10,000 and receive due acknowledgment at Richmond’s end-of-season Jack Dyer Medal presentation night.
Well, the Club is delighted to announce that it signed just over 11,000 new members for the 2011 season, and that played a significant part in an all-time record membership year at Tigerland.
First prize, for referring the most new members, went to a small group of Yellow and Black fanatics, called “The Spike Tigers”. They took out the $10,000 for their mighty effort in referring 95 new members.
Second prize went to the Richmond Hobart Supporters’ Group, who signed more than 20 new members in Tasmania.
Major prizes were also won by Mark George, a long-time coterie member, who referred more than 20 new members off his own bat, as well as the Club’s WA Supporters’ Group, and passionate Tiger online forum group “PuntRoadEnd”.
Special mention should be made, too, of the remarkable work of first-year Richmond player Bachar Houli, who, although ineligible for any of the prizes, personally referred nearly 70 members.
The Club sends sincere thanks to all those who got right behind Operation 10,000 and, especially, the 11,000 new members in 2011.
