Star Richmond key defender Alex Rance isn’t fussed whether he’s officially a member of the Club’s playing leadership group or not.

Rance, who was rewarded for an outstanding 2015 season with his inaugural Jack Dyer Medal, and All-Australian selection for a second successive year, isn’t in the Tigers’ leadership group – and it’s not something he particularly aspires to in the future.

Winning drives Rance

“I’ve said a few times before, I don’t think I need a title to be able to lead.  I’ll always do it in my own unique way,” Rance told ‘Roar Vision’.

“I’m an actions man.

“I do speak up sometimes . . . Sometimes I get it wrong, sometimes I get it right.

“I’m not afraid to be wrong.  I think that’s important to being a leader – putting yourself out there, because every opportunity you put yourself out there, is an opportunity to learn.

“I definitely tried to take on more on-field this year.  ‘Chappy’ (Troy Chaplin) and I spread the load a bit more vocally and took control of moments.”
