As disappointing as last Sunday’s elimination final loss to North Melbourne was, key Tiger tall forward Ty Vickery sees plenty of blue sky ahead for the Yellow and Blacks.
“We feel we’ve got a lot of exciting young guys in the team,” Vickery said on SEN.
“Brandon Ellis took another step forward this year, Ben Lennon showed why he’s so talented . . . there was natural development from blokes like that.
“But also, we’re just becoming a better team every year in terms of our execution of the game plan consistently. And, that’s what we need.
“We just need more guys stepping up regularly to take the pressure off our best players.”

Vickery revealed that he hadn’t seen a teammate lurking close to goal, when he had a shot on the run from about 35 metres out, which went through for a point, with just over five minutes remaining in the elimination final, and the Tigers trailing by 11 points.
“To be honest I didn’t, but obviously I’ve heard there was,” Vickery said.
“Obviously, I backed myself in and couldn’t execute, which really hurt the team at the time . . . it’s pretty disappointing.”
Vickery had an impressive finish to the season, kicking 17 goals in his last five matches for an overall total of 31 from the 15 games he played. He averaged 2.1 goals and 4.9 marks per game for season 2015.
“Certainly the last half of the year it was good to put together some consistent performances – probably reflective of the team’s,” he said.
“I’ll look to build on it next year.”
