Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke has praised the first-up performance of Kane Lambert, who made an impressive return from injury last weekend.

Lambert had missed more than two months of football after injuring his shoulder, during his AFL debut in Round 2 this season.

After an extensive rehabilitation program, the 23-year-old made his comeback in the VFL against Footscray last Saturday at the ME Centre, playing three quarters and proving dominant around the stoppages.

“Kane was terrific.  He came on at quarter time, and had managed game time,” Clarke told Roar Vision.

“He had up near 30 possessions, he had a heap of inside 50s, and three or four shots on goal.

“It’s a credit to the way that he’s gone about his rehab, and it’s a credit to the fitness team.

“They’ve worked tirelessly with him, and he’s come out and performed really well on match-day.”

Lambert was selected by Richmond with its final pick (46) in last year’s AFL Rookie Draft, and was quickly elevated to the senior list after impressing during pre-season training.

He had previously enjoyed many successful seasons in the VFL with the Northern Blues and Williamstown.
