The timing of a hamstring injury couldn’t have been worse for Richmond midfielder Reece Conca.
On the eve of the 2015 season, after completing the most pre-season work he has put in during his time at Tigerland, the 22-year-old faced another setback.
“I had a slight hamstring strain towards the end of the North Melbourne game in our last pre-season hitout,” Conca said.
“It’s a little bit disappointing, but I’m only a couple of weeks away, so it’s not quite as bad as what we initially thought.
Continuity, particularly in the pre-season, has not been afforded to Conca during his four seasons at the Club so far.
“I’ve had a lot of previous injuries. This is probably one of the minor ones, but the timing is the most frustrating thing,” he said.
“It was probably the most pre-season I’d done, since being drafted initially.
“Pre-Christmas I was travelling really well, then had a minor hiccup with the knee, but then post that I was going well again.
“I’m just trying to find a bit of consistent training, and just getting the strength up.
“I’ve just got to get the rehab done, and I’ll be back in no time.”

The Club is expecting Conca to miss at least the next fortnight on the sidelines, before he is expected to work his way back through the VFL.
“I’ll obviously deliberate with the physios and just make sure I’m right first,” Conca said.
“It’s a long year. I’ll just get the body right, maybe have a few hitouts at VFL, and just see how I’m tracking.”
