The captain/coach combination of Trent Cotchin and Damien Hardwick is the longest in Richmond’s league football history.
Cotchin and Hardwick are set to enter their sixth successive season as captain and coach respectively with the Tigers, which is a clear record at the Club in terms of this leadership partnership.
The closest tenure-wise to the Cotchin-Hardwick combination at Richmond is Roger Dean-Tommy Hafey (1968-1971), Royce Hart-Tommy Hafey (1972-1975), Dale Weightman-Kevin Bartlett (1988-1991), Wayne Campbell-Danny Frawley (2001-2004) and Kane Johnson-Terry Wallace (2005-2008).
And the Cotchin-Hardwick ‘combo’ also is the second longest currently in the AFL competition, behind Geelong’s Joel Selwood and Chris Scott, who have been together since 2012.
