Richmond has accepted a $5000 sanction from the AFL, for a failure to provide up-to-date player address information to ASADA.
Under the requirements of the Anti-Doping Code, all clubs in the AFL competition are required to keep ASADA notified at all times of the location of listed players, including home address details, for testing purposes.
The AFL sanctioned the minimum $5000 amount for the administrative error, due to Richmond’s strong compliance history.
“Compliance and adherence to AFL and ASADA policy is taken very seriously by the Club,” said Richmond General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.
“We acknowledge an administrative error in communicating change of information with regard to a player’s new residential address, and accept the $5000 fine.
“We have reminded our players of the importance of updating their records with the Club to ensure total compliance with both the AFL and ASADA.”
