Richmond ruckman Ivan Maric has made a promising recovery from an ankle injury and is considered a chance to face Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.

However, defenders Ricky Petterd (calf) and Dylan Grimes (foot) are in doubt, with key forward Ty Vickery needing to pass a concussion test ahead of the important clash.

Maric hurt an ankle in the third quarter against Geelong last Saturday night at the MCG and struggled to jump and cover the ground as he fought on in the ruck.

Richmond football manager Dan Richardson said the ankle had "settled down reasonably well" and both Maric and Vickery were a chance to face the Power.   

"Ty has got to get a concussion test still so he'd be a chance to come through that ok," Richardson told AFL.com.au.

"Ricky Petterd is probably the one that's most doubtful with a bit of a calf problem.

"Grimes there's a bit of doubt on also, so he's probably 50-50. He's just got a sore foot that's been a bit off for a few weeks.

"He might have to miss just to give it a rest, but it's nothing too major."

Richardson said Geelong recruit Orren Stephenson was in strong form and capable of performing in the ruck if Maric or Vickery were unavailable.

Aaron Edwards is also in the mix after taking 16 marks and kicking two goals in the VFL at the weekend, capping a strong five-week run with Coburg that has seen him kick 19 goals.

"We had the VFL review and he's been in really good form … he was clean and he's kicking well," Richardson said. 

"Pre-season games he probably didn't show as much, but certainly at Coburg he's been outstanding.

"The best thing about the weekend is he presented up the ground and took a lot of marks.

"Even if he doesn't get his opportunity this week, he's putting pressure on the guys in the team, which is good."

Richardson said Matt Dea and Robin Nahas had also been in consistent form for Coburg and were pushing strong cases for senior selection.
