Richmond veteran Chris Newman has emerged unscathed on his return from a groin injury, in last Saturday’s VFL match against Werribee.
Newman missed three weeks with the injury, and played approximately three quarters of game time in the Tigers’ 96-point loss.
He was a strong contributor when he was injected into the game, finishing with 16 disposals, five marks and four tackles.
“Newy was good. He did what he had to do today. He got through three quarters of game time,” Richmond VFL coach Tim Clarke said after the match.
“It was a really tough game to play down back. We had a very inexperienced backline, and Newy wouldn’t be used to playing in that environment.
“He contributed to the team, but it’s really hard on a day like this to play down back and have an impact.”
Newman played five of a possible six games AFL level to start the 2015 season, before suffering the groin setback.
