New Richmond mature-age midfield recruit Andrew Moore caught up with ‘Roar Vision’ to discuss his transition from Port Adelaide to Tigerland. Here’s what he had to say . . .
Thrilled to be a Tiger
“I’m really pleased how it worked out . . . to get another opportunity at a great club like Richmond. It’s got a lot of history and a great supporter base, and it’s great to be a part of it.”
Swift switch
“It happened really quickly with the delisting with Port Adelaide and then, within half an hour, I was speaking with Damien (Hardwick) . . . Very overwhelmed at having another opportunity and very grateful . . . Really looking forward to meeting a lot of the older guys when they come back (to start pre-season) Friday and getting stuck into the training.”
Inside midfield role
“That is a strength of mine. I’ve got a big frame and I like to throw it around . . . That’s definitely a spot I want to take charge of through that midfield and really work alongside (Trent) Cotchin and (Dustin) Martin, when he goes through there and (Anthony) Miles, who’s really come a long way. To work alongside guys like that is going to be something special.”
Continuing the family’s Tigerland tradition
“That was a very exciting and special time when Kel was involved with the Club. It was before my time getting into the AFL system. I was hanging around the Club quite a bit, going into the change-rooms at the end of the games. That made me realise what I wanted to do and wanted to pursue (playing AFL football) . . . To be a part of something that our family’s already been a part of in the past, with Kelvin, it’s special . . .”
Big brother will be watching closely
“He’s excited and really looking forward to a bit more of my company. I am just about to move around the corner from him, so I’ll be around there for many dinners and vice-versa. I think you’ll probably see him around the Club a little bit more . . .”
Up and running
“It was a good little session this morning . . . There’s nothing like getting out there and having a run around with the boys . . . They’re really putting the hard yards in, and they’re training really well. It will be even better when the older guys come back on Friday to really kick-start our pre-season . . . Hopefully we can drag that into the season and have a really strong year.”
