Richmond is fully aware of the potential damage that can be caused by Brisbane’s ‘mosquito fleet’ up forward (Zorko, Green, Taylor and Christensen) and will be keen to apply the required repellent to them in Saturday night’s Round 3 clash at the Gabba.
“It’s a very attacking half-forward line, they kick goals, they put pressure on, and when they do get it inside 50, they are very good at keeping it in there. So we have to be on our guard and make sure we get that ball out cleanly from our defensive 50,” Richmond assistant coach Brendon Lade said on this week’s edition of the ‘Spotlight’.
“They bring their half-forwards up and open up a lot of space behind in their forward line. So we’ve got to stop the source, don’t let it get out into these situations, put a lot of pressure on and make it hard for them going inside 50.
“We don’t want the handball chains happening, and we’ll be putting a lot of pressure on to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
Lade is confident the Tigers will respond strongly to their Round 2 defeat at the hands of the Western Bulldogs.
“We were disappointing last week and we’ve addressed a few of those issues, so we expect a pretty good showing against Brisbane.”
