Regardless of the result of Saturday’s Grand Final, Richmond coach Damien Hardwick will remain intensely proud of his playing group.

While acknowledging how high the stakes are in the 2019 premiership-decider against Greater Western Sydney, Hardwick has a holistic perspective on the overall situation.

“I hope everyone takes this the right way. I played in six or seven prelims and I won two flags. They’re bloody hard to win,” Hardwick said.

“I think we don’t celebrate the final four sides enough . . . we’re always looking at the outcome.

“Don’t get me wrong, we’re the same. But, you know what, this side’s a hell of a side.

“To where we’ve come from halfway through the year at seven (wins) and six (losses), to not lose a game since, it’s an incredible journey.

“We hope we get the result at the end of it, but whichever way we go, I’m incredibly proud of these blokes. Couldn’t be any prouder.”
