While dynamic Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin has stormed right into 2016 Brownlow Medal calculations through his brilliant on-field performances, Tigers coach Damien Hardwick is adamant the young star isn’t motivated by individual awards or accolades, no matter how prestigious they may be.
“From my point of view, the Brownlow is one of those awards that’s there at the end, but I think with Dustin the thing that he enjoys most is winning,” Hardwick said.
“The (sign of his) maturity level, and how much he’s grown as a person is, he sends this incredible text after the game, saying he just wants to get back to that winning feeling.
“That’s what’s important to Dustin, and that’s what’s important to our side.
“You can put all those individual awards to the side – the kid just wants to win . . .
“That’s why we love him in our side.”
