Bachar Houli will be sidelined for 8-to-10 weeks following surgery on his left wrist earlier this week.
The 28-year-old had a screw inserted into his injured scaphoid, after sustaining the break at training late last week.
Midfielder Kamdyn McIntosh is also sidelined for an extended period of time, and is expected to miss the next 12 weeks of the AFL season following surgery on his injured ankle.
McIntosh had surgery on Monday to repair a syndesmosis sprain of his right ankle, after injuring it during training last Thursday which saw him placed on the long-term injury list.
Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson said the injuries are an unfortunate part of playing football.
“It’s unlucky for both Bachar and Kamdyn to both sustain injuries that will sideline them for a period of time, they’re both important players at our football club,” he said
“They’re both diligent and determined players and will commence their injury rehab later this week, and we expect them to be able to make an on-field contribution later this season.
“We had an early indication that Bachar’s injury would see him miss a fair bit of football, but we needed to seek clarification from his surgeon after his operation on the extent of the injury.”
