Smart small forward Sam Lloyd showcased his uncanny goal sense in Richmond’s Round 17 victory over Essendon at the MCG, with a remarkable six-pointer that was voted the Tigers’ third best of season 2016 by Yellow and Black fans.
Lloyd’s forward line compatriot Jack Riewoldt had led up at the ball, taken the mark, and quickly moved it on towards Richmond’s goal at the Punt Road end.
The ball skewed deep in the forward pocket, where Lloyd was the recipient of a favourable bounce, ahead of his Essendon opponent, but jammed right up against the boundary line.
He cleverly summed up the situation, however, putting the ball on the side of his right boot and dribbling it through from a seemingly impossible angle, for a goal that sent commentators and Tiger supporters alike into raptures.
The second and best goal of the year, as voted by Richmond fans, will be revealed tomorrow, Friday September 23.
