Richmond recruit Chris Yarran continues to build his fitness as he returns from a calf injury.

Yarran was one of 18 AFL-listed players that competed in a VFL intra-club hit-out at Punt Road Oval on Thursday night.

The match, which consisted of three 27-minute periods, gave several players the chance to put their case forward for Round 1 selection.

Yarran got about 45 minutes of game time under his belt, then completed extra conditioning work.

While the former Carlton utility had a reasonably quiet start to the game, he got his hands on more of the ball in the middle third and finished with eight touches.

Forward Sam Lloyd pushed for senior selection after notching up 17 disposals and four contested marks, while rookie Jayden Short slotted through three goals as the leading goalkicker on the night.

Midfielder Corey Ellis also strung together a strong performance with 16 disposals, while Taylor Hunt was also lively with 14.

Rookie Adam Marcon has benefitted from a solid pre-season, registering 14 touches and laying five tackles in the hit-out.

VFL duo Anthony Scott and Matt Troutbeck booted two goals each, with teammates Nick Mellington, Gerard Gleeson and Sam Darleyshowing promising signs with 14 touches each.

The match provided an opportunity for VFL-listed players to showcase their talent before the Club lodges its VFL list of 24 players on Monday, March 21.

Richmond is holding another intra-club match next Thursday open at Punt Road Oval from 9.30am, as well as an open training session on Sunday, March 20 from 9am.
