More than 3000 fans in the Beaconsfield community, in Melbourne’s outer south-east, watched the Tigers train yesterday (Monday, January 27) at a special Australia Day holiday session.

It’s the second year Richmond has trained in Cardinia Shire over the Australia Day long weekend, giving regional fans a chance to see an AFL team in action.

The day’s activities included watching the entire AFL team and coaching staff during a training session at Holm Park Recreation Reserve in Beaconsfield, a kids’ football clinic and player autograph opportunity.

In a display of pure Richmond commitment, some families travelled to Beaconsfield from the communities of Ararat, Wangaratta (302km from Beaconsfield), Bairnsdale and Dargo.

Richmond’s Family Day is coming home in 2014 and is at the ME Bank Centre on Sunday, February 16. Click here to register to attend the day.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale attended the training session and said the turnout of Richmond fans from the local community and beyond was a great sight to see.

“We know that Richmond has a lot of members and supporters in the Cardinia Shire, and it’s great to reward their loyalty and passion with a visit to their community,” Gale said.

Richmond will travel to Warrnambool next week for its Australia Post AFL Community Camp, on February 4 and 5.
