Talented midfielder Reece Conca seems set to be recalled to Richmond’s senior line-up for Sunday’s Round 12 clash with Gold Coast, following a standout performance at VFL level last weekend.
Conca dominated for the Tigers’ VFL team in its 33-point loss to Coburg, racking up 36 disposals, including a highly-impressive 21 contested possessions in the wet conditions, along with five clearances, seven tackles and a goal.
“Reece was clearly our best player on the ground,” said Richmond VFL coach Craig McRae.
“He actually started quite slowly, but he really picked it up after quarter-time.
“He looks ready for an AFL opportunity . . . he’s playing well above the level.”
Conca has now played three consecutive games in the VFL on the comeback trail from a severe hamstring complaint that derailed his start to season 2016.
The 23-year-old has managed just three senior appearances with Richmond out of a possible 34, during the past season and a half, due to injuries.
