The capacity for the Richmond midfield group to hit the scoreboard has been a striking feature of the Tigers’ game early in season 2017.
Richmond’s midfielders have scored half the team’s goals in the opening two home-and-away rounds.
Led by Dustin Martin, with six goals (the Tigers’ overall leading goalkicker so far), the ‘mids’ have 17 out of an overall total of 34.
They kicked six of Richmond’s 14 goals in last Thursday night’s 19-point win against Collingwood at the MCG – Martin, two, Trent Cotchin, two, Josh Caddy, one and Shaun Grigg, one.
In the Round 1 victory over Carlton the previous week, they booted 11 of the team’s 20 goals – Martin with four, Toby Nankervis, two, Cotchin, one, Caddy, one, Dion Prestia, one, Grigg, one and Nick Vlastuin, one.
