Relive the Tigers’ 2017 premiership through the re-running of articles richmondfc.com.au published in the glory days following the tremendous Grand Final triumph.
Star Richmond premiership key forward Jack Riewoldt has been blown away by the euphoria engendered among Yellow and Black Barrackers by the Tigers’ 2017 premiership triumph.
“I always knew that if you won a premiership it would be an awesome feeling, but the one thing that I underestimated is how good it is to make other people feel good,” Riewoldt said on ‘RSN’.
“It’s been a really fulfilling experience to have people coming up to you and saying, ‘This has made my father’s life, my brother’s, my mum’s, or my, life. You don’t understand how happy you’ve made me’.
“That’s the thing I know the guys are really proud of . . .
“We played a pretty awesome brand of footy. It was hard-nosed and working class, and our fans loved that about us . . . And they love the fact that we were able to bring home the cup for not only the 22 guys that played, but everyone at the football club and all of our supporters, too, that have been long suffering.”
Riewoldt admitted he is yet to fully comprehend the enormity of Richmond’s achievement in 2017.
“It’s cloud nine still at the moment,” he said.
“I sort of can’t believe it, and I think it will probably take another week or so just to soak it all in . . .
“It’s an awesome feeling and it’s a pretty addictive feeling, too, to play in front of 100,000 people on the biggest stage.
“So fingers crossed we can get back there.”
