Richmond tall forward Ben Griffiths is one of three Tigers facing fitness tests this week.
Griffiths has been sidelined since late April after suffering his second head knock this season with an elbow to the head in the VFL.
The 25-year-old will train with the VFL Tigers this week and pending he passes fitness testing, will be available for selection.
Richmond’s general manager of football, Neil Balme, said Griffiths had passed the necessary concussion tests.
“Ben has been training well and we hope to see him play this weekend,” Balme said.
“He needs to get through this week, but the signs are looking very promising at this stage.
“We have taken a conservative approach with Ben, given his history with concussion, and his welfare has always been paramount.
“The Club’s medical staff have done a great job managing him.”
Tough Richmond defender Dylan Grimes and forward Ben Lennon are also tests this week.
Grimes was concussed in the second quarter of the Tigers’ Round 16 match against St Kilda last Saturday night and did not return to the field in the second half.
Lennon, 22, has been sidelined for three weeks after he sustained a hamstring injury at training.
The VFL Tigers play Werribee at Frankston this Saturday, before the AFL side hosts Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
