A LIMITED number of tickets will go on sale on Thursday afternoon for the preliminary finals in the Toyota AFL Finals Series.
Up to 1300 tickets will be released to the public at 12pm (AEST) on Thursday for the preliminary final between Richmond and Greater Western Sydney at the MCG on Saturday evening.
That will then be followed by a release of 1200 tickets at 2pm (ACST) for the Adelaide-Geelong blockbuster at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
Tickets will go on sale via Ticketek from 12pm AEST
The AFL has estimated a crowd of 97,000 will walk through the MCG gates on Saturday for the Tigers' first preliminary final since 2001.
Should the crowd reach that mark it would be one of the highest-attended games (excluding the Grand Final) on record since 1973.
A crowd of 98,002 was on hand to see Geelong defeat Collingwood by five points in the 2007 preliminary final, which is the highest crowd for a non-Grand Final since the 1970s.
Based on ticket sales, the Crows-Cats game is trending towards a crowd of more than 53,000, which would be close to breaking the all-time Adelaide Oval attendance record for an AFL game.
In round three this season, 53,698 showed up for the Showdown between Port Adelaide and Adelaide.
