Richmond VFL coach Craig McRae has spoken with immense pride about his team emulating the impressive feats of the Club’s AFL side at the business end of season 2017.
McRae’s Tigers are into the VFL grand final, against Port Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, following their 65-point demolition of Box Hill Hawks last Saturday.
“We like to look like the AFL (team), no doubt,” McRae said on SEN.
“The Cats’ (AFL) qualifying final, when the boys jumped out and put enormous pressure on, we were lucky enough to play the next day.
“We all got to sit back and be inspired by it, and that drove us in that game.
“This week, we wanted to be the ones inspiring the group, because we had an opportunity to play when the AFL guys were sitting in the stands.
“We wanted to drive that and set up the week.
“So it’s been a great connection, with both driving each other really well.”
