The importance of key defender Alex Rance to Richmond’s line-up has been outlined by the Tigers’ captain Trent Cotchin.
Rance returned to the Richmond side for the Round 7 match against Geelong at the MCG, after being sidelined for several weeks with a broken foot, and had an instant impact through his bold play in the back half.
Cotchin rates Rance highly, not only for his elite intercept work, mobility and courage, but also the leadership he provides.

“’Rancey’ is one of our directors down there (in defence),” Cotchin said.
“He makes sure that guys are playing their role, especially in the back half, but also with the midfield.
“He’s always talking to us and trying to direct us to the most dangerous space for the opposition.
“It was great to have him back. I know that the other key backs were very happy to have him back.”
