Richmond VFLW player, Sophie Conway has ruptured her ACL, ruling her out for the remainder of the VFLW season.
Conway, 19, was set to make her debut for the VFLW Tigers on the weekend, but suffered the injury at training on Friday evening.
A Queenslander, Conway played six AFLW games for the Brisbane Lions in 2018, but will miss the 2019 season through injury.
Richmond’s AFLW Operations Manager, Kate Sheahan said Conway had made an instant impact to the playing group despite her short time at the Club.
“Sophie is a much-loved member of our playing group, ever since she arrived here just a few weeks ago,” Sheahan said.
“She’s really thrived in our environment, and we’re disappointed for her that she has ruptured her ACL.”
“We’ll continue to support Sophie as best we can, and we hope to provide her another opportunity to play for the Tigers in next year’s VFLW season.”
Conway will soon return to Queensland to undergo surgery and rehabilitation for her knee.
