Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has thrown his strong support behind Jason Castagna following the livewire Tiger forward’s attack of the goalkicking yips in last night’s narrow loss to Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium.
Castagna finished with 0.5, but Hardwick was keen, post-match, to focus on the positives of his performance.
“We spoke to him at the end of the game. He'll probably be a little bit distraught about his zero (goals) five (behinds), but he gave himself ample opportunities to play the game and that’s what we want him to do,” Hardwick said.
“He'll go back to the drawing board, he’ll work on his process, and he'll get a better result next week.
“The pleasing thing for me is he kept lining up to take those shots on goal.
“He had a really good game tonight. The finishing wasn't there, but it'll be there next week.”
Castagna had 14 disposals, four inside-50s and 300 metres gained to go with those five shots at goal.
