Richmond’s even spread of contributors in last Saturday’s success against Collingwood at the MCG was further underlined through the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Player of the Year award voting for Round 19.
The Tigers had three players receive four votes apiece – dependable key defender David Astbury, talented playmaker Shane Edwards and star key forward Jack Riewoldt – while top midfielder Dion Prestia picked up one vote.
Astbury had a season-high 21 disposals, with 11 contested possessions, a game-high 11 intercepts and took seven marks.
Edwards finished with 23 disposals, including 11 contested possessions, six inside-50s, six score involvements, one goal, five tackles and 535 metres gained.
Riewoldt had 16 disposals, with 10 contested possessions, a game-high 11 score involvements, took seven marks and booted three goals.
Prestia, despite playing for more than half the match with a fractured rib, picked up 21 disposals, including 11 contested possessions, seven clearances, five inside-50s, applied a team-high seven tackles, had five score involvements and 372 metres gained.
