Richmond Football Club's commitment to its preferred charity partner, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation (the Foundation), has taken another significant step forward.

The Club announced today that it would donate five per cent of its annual retail merchandise profits to support the Foundation, in its work protecting children from violence.

"Children are our most important responsibility and I'm proud that this Club has made such a commitment to its preferred charity partner," said Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale.

"I have no doubt Richmond supporters will be proud to know that every time they purchase something from our Tigerland Superstore at the ME Bank Centre, or online at richmondfc.com.au, they will be making an important contribution towards the protection of children.

Five per cent of each purchase at the Tigerland Superstore will support The Alannah and Madeline Foundation. Visit the Superstore now.

"It is important we have a strong viable business and can provide our administration, football department and players with all the support they need, but that is not our sole reason for being.”

"We have a responsibility and capacity to support the community in which we operate. I can think of nothing more important than the protection of our children.

"This Club is committed to making its partnership with The Alannah and Madeline Foundation the best sports charity partnership in Australia, and this commitment is part of achieving that ambition."

Dr Judith Slocombe, CEO of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, said the partnership with Richmond continues to grow from strength to strength.

“We are very proud of our partnership with the Richmond Football Club,” she said.

“The Club is genuinely committed to making a difference in the lives of children affected by violence and bullying, and has been instrumental in helping us to raise both funds and awareness about our work.”

“Richmond’s latest initiative to contribute five per cent of its merchandise profits will help us to reach more children affected by violence, and we look forward to seeing the yellow and black army out in force in their club colours during this year’s AFL season.”

The Foundation’s programs care for children who have experienced or witnessed serious violence, and work to create behaviour change in the community to reduce bullying and cyberbullying.

These programs include: Better Buddies, eSmart, Buddy Bags, Children Ahead, Refuge Therapeutic Support Program and the National Centre Against Bullying.
