Richmond will play in the opening match of the Sydney AFLX tournament against the GWS Giants, as the AFL released the fixtures for the new version of Australian Football today.
The Tigers will travel to Sydney to play in its AFLX challenge at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, February 17.
Richmond are in Pool A of the tournament and will face the GWS Giants and Brisbane Lions in the new game played on a rectangular field.
The Sydney Swans, Western Bulldogs and the Gold Coast SUNS are in Pool B.
The leaders of Pools A and B will square-off in a Grand Final match at the end of the day’s competition to determine the overall winner.
AFLX is a unique and faced-paced version of Australian Football with two ten-minute halves, seven players on the field from each team, and 10-point super goals – to name just a few changes to the traditional format.
