Three talented Tigers feature in the AFL’s Goal of the Year and Mark of the Year nominations for Round 15.
Rising star small forward Daniel Rioli was one of the three weekly contenders for Goal of the Year, while top-class small defender Nick Vlastuin and star key forward Jack Riewoldt were Mark of the Year candidates.
Rioli’s goal, which came midway through the opening quarter of Richmond’s clash with Sydney at Etihad Stadium, showcased his innate, exceptional football ability.
He took a clever one-handed mark deep in the Tigers’ forward line, played on immediately, and snapped a brilliant banana goal.
Vlastuin’s mark occurred late in the second quarter . . . Using Swans star spearhead Lance Franklin as a step-ladder, he soared high to take a classic ‘hanger’.
Riewoldt's grab was a perfect pack mark from a Jayden Short kick along the boundary line inside 50. It was one of 16 marks Riewoldt took on the night, as he flew in between All-Australian defenders Nick Smith and Dane Rampe.
