If, as they say, a week’s a long time in football, then six years is an eternity.

A look back at Richmond’s team for the 2010 season-opener against Carlton underlines this in no uncertain manner . . .

In what was Damien Hardwick’s coaching debut with Richmond, there are just six players remaining on the Tigers’ list, six years on.

Those who have departed Tigerland since the Round 1, 2010 clash with the Blues are (in alphabetical order):  Daniel Connors, Ben Cousins, Mitch Farmer, Tom Hislop, Daniel Jackson, Luke McGuane, Kelvin Moore, Mitch Morton, Robin Nahas, Ben Nason, Chris Newman, Relton Roberts, Troy Simmonds, Richard Tambling, Adam Thomson and Will Thursfield.

The other six Richmond players from that 2010 opening round encounter are Trent Cotchin (in his 26^th league game), Brett Deledio (107^th game), Shane Edwards (48^th game), Dustin Martin (on debut), Jack Riewoldt (47^th game) and Ty Vickery (10^th game).

Interestingly, Chris Yarran, now with the Tigers, was playing just his seventh AFL game for Carlton.

The inexperienced Richmond side was beaten by 56 points – 18.12 (120) to 9.10 (64).  Riewoldt and Morton were the Tigers’ leading goalkickers with two apiece, while their main possession-winners were Connors, 24, Jackson, 23, and Deledio, 21.
