Talented teenager Sydney Stack will become just the sixth Syd (Sid) to represent Richmond at AFL/VFL level, when he makes his senior league debut against Greater Western Sydney at Giants Stadium on Saturday.
Ruckman Syd Barker was the inaugural player with that first name to play for the Tigers, making two appearances during the Club’s initial season in the VFL competition in 1908.

Rover Syd Price played 11 senior games with Richmond from 1909-10, half-forward wingman Syd Dockendorff had a 13-game career at Tigerland from 1932-33, and defender Sid Searl played three games, all in the 1942 season.
The best Tiger Syd so far has been Syd Reeves, who was acknowledged as one of the competition’s top centremen throughout 110 games in the Yellow and Black from 1910-19, including the 1919 Grand Final loss to Collingwood.
He won Richmond’s Best and Fairest in 1914 and also was awarded life membership of the Club.
Meanwhile, Sydney Stack will create history by becoming the first millennium baby to go on and play senior football with the Tigers.
Stack was born on April 28, 2000 – just two days before Richmond crushed Geelong by 70 points in a Round 8 clash that season at Marvel Stadium, with Matthew Rogers kicking five goals and Rory Hilton receiving three Brownlow Medal votes.
