Richmond’s debutants made a handy start to 2019, with all three new Tigers impacting the scoreboard in Thursday night’s win over Carlton.
In addition to Tom Lynch’s three-goal performance, Noah Balta and Mav Weller both made an impression in their first outing in the Yellow and Black.

Balta added his name to the famed ‘first kick, first goal’ club, a fairytale start to his senior career.
He backed it up straight after with a monster kick from the centre, an impressive assist to Toby Nankervis’ goal that followed.
It was a debut to remember for Weller too, who showed his value to Richmond’s forward line mix as he racked up 15 touches and slotted his first goal for the Tigers with a soccer off the ground.

It had shades of 2017, when then-new Tigers Nankervis, Dion Prestia and Josh Caddy all booted goals on their Club debuts.
Following Thursday night’s win, skipper Trent Cotchin was quick to praise his new teammates, telling AFL Nation he was pleased with what they added to Richmond’s new-look.
“We love new faces coming into the Club,” he said.
“They’ve all brought different energy, different strengths.
“It was a credit to them to get their first game tonight.”
