Richmond superstar Dustin Martin has captured his second Ian Stewart Medal.
Martin received the prestigious individual award after being voted best afield by a panel of experts in the Tigers’ 33-point victory over St Kilda at Marvel Stadium yesterday.
The brilliant midfielder, who previously won the Ian Stewart Medal in 2017, finished the match with a game-high 36 disposals, including 10 contested possessions, an equal game-high six clearances, five inside-50s, seven marks, 10 score involvements and a huge 712 metres gained.

He polled the maximum nine votes from the three judges (SEN’s Andy Maher, Fox Footy’s Brad Johnson and AFL Media’s Cal Twomey), with his talented, young teammate Sydney Stack and Saints ruckman Rowan Marshall in equal second place on four votes and gun Tiger midfielder Dion Prestia on one vote.
The Ian Stewart Medal is named in honour of the only player in league football history to win a Brownlow Medal and premiership at two clubs.
Ian Stewart, an outstanding centreman, played 127 games with St Kilda from 1963-70. He also won back-to-back Brownlow Medals with the Saints in 1965-66, and was a member of their only premiership side in 1966.
In 1971, Stewart joined Richmond in a sensational swap for the Tigers’ dual premiership centreman Bill Barrot.
Stewart went on to play 78 games for Richmond from 1971-75. He won the Brownlow Medal in his debut season with the Tigers, as well as the Club’s Best and Fairest award that year.
Two years later, he was a key player in the Richmond side that defeated Carlton by 30 points in the 1973 Grand Final.
Ian Stewart also is a Team of the Century member and Hall of Fame inductee at both Richmond and St Kilda, as well as an Australian Football Hall Legend.
