Lively Richmond forward Jason Castagna further underlined his elite speed during the third quarter of yesterday’s clash with Fremantle at Optus Stadium, turning on the afterburners to burst away from Dockers opponent Adam Cerra, narrowly avoid the field umpire, and then slam the ball through for a brilliant goal. Here’s how Fox Footy commentator Adam Papalia, special comments man/AFL great Dermott Brereton, and Castagna, himself, responded to the scintillating six-pointer.
Papalia’s commentary
“(Lobb) Taps straight down the throat of (Kane) Lambert. Quickly forward to (Jason) Castagna. He’s trying to show a clean pair of heels to (Adam) Cerra. He does just that. He arcs around Cerra and the umpire – and that is a brilliant goal! Castagna with an amazing finish.”

Brereton’s special comments
“He has corralled his opponent. His opponent started goalside, Cerra. He puts the shimmy on and then gets five metres goalside. He has to run around the umpire. The umpire’s like a bollard in the middle of the carpark for him. What a wonderful goal.”

Castagna’s reaction
“It was just good to get on the scoreboard . . . I didn’t actually see him (the umpire), to be honest. I was just trying to get away from my opponent and a bit of space freed up . . . I had a shot and it kind of floated through. But it got there.”
