Statistics support just how strong a start talented, tough, young Richmond midfielder Jack Ross has made to his AFL career.
The 18-year-old, who was the Tigers’ second pick (No. 43 overall) in last year’s national draft, is averaging 23.3 disposals, 4.3 inside-50s, 3.3 tackles and 3.0 clearances per game after three matches.

Among AFL Rising Star candidates, he is ranked first in handballs per game, second in disposals per game, second in uncontested possessions per game, second in centre clearances per game, second in metres gained per game, third in contested possessions per game and third in clearances per game.
Ross was a key contributor through the midfield for Richmond in its convincing 43-point Anzac Eve victory over Melbourne, finishing the match with 28 disposals, including seven inside-50s, four marks and 415 metres gained.
He again underlined the excellent poise and maturity he possesses for such a young, inexperienced player at the game’s highest level – a factor not lost on his older Tiger midfield teammate Dion Prestia.
“He’s just so composed, that’s why I’m so impressed by him. He’s not really fazed by anything,” Prestia 3AW in a post-match interview.

“I remember in the Port Adelaide game (Round 4) where he took a mark with about 15 seconds to go and just pretty much sealed the game for us.
“He loves to listen, so he takes everything on board with what me and ‘Dusty’ (Dustin Martin) and ‘Cads’ (Josh Caddy) are telling him.
“He’s easy to play with and easy to coach.”
