Jeff Hogg is Richmond’s next Homecoming Hero for the 2019 season.
The Tigers are set to pay tribute to Hogg in the lead-up to Friday night’s blockbuster clash with Geelong at the MCG.
Hogg will walk to the Punt Road end of the ground, where he’s sure to be warmly greeted by the Tiger Army.
He’ll kick a ceremonial goal, then sign the football and present it to a Richmond fan in the crowd.

Highlights of Hogg’s fine playing career with the Tigers also will be shown on the MCG’s big screens.
Jeff Hogg joined Richmond from Mt Waverley High School, which was in the Club’s then metropolitan recruiting zone.
Hogg started in the Tigers’ under-19s and was a member of their premiership side in 1985.
The following season he made his senior league debut, in Richmond’s Round 3 match against Hawthorn at Princes Park.
Although the Tigers lost by 55 points, Hogg’s first-up performance was a positive for them. He had 15 disposals, took seven marks and kicked two goals in his role up forward.
Throughout the rest of the 1986 season, and then in 1987, Hogg showed promising signs, but it was in 1988 that he took his game to an impressively high level.
In what was Richmond great Kevin Bartlett’s first season as the Club’s senior coach, Hogg, playing predominantly at full-forward, won the Tigers’ leading goalkicker award with 57 goals.
He would go on to win the Club’s leading goalkicker award another four times, with his best return in a season being 68 goals in 1991.
The highlight of his league football career came during that ’91 season, when he booted 10 goals against reigning premier Collingwood in the Round 8 clash on Mother’s Day.
That brilliant goalkicking performance by Hogg lifted Richmond to a massive 57-point upset win in what became known as the ‘Mother’s Day Massacre’.
Hogg’s key football attributes were on full display throughout the match – fast leading, strong marking, clever reading of the play and accurate kicking for goal (10.1).
As good a player as Hogg was at full-forward, he occasionally was effectively used to plug holes up the other end of the ground in what was a leaky defence.

In dual Richmond premiership player John Northey’s first season as Tigers coach in 1993, Hogg took over the captaincy reins from champion rover Dale Weightman.
He led by example with 57 goals for the season, but Richmond managed to win only four games and finished second last on the league ladder.
At the end of that ’93 season, Hogg was sensationally traded to Fitzroy in exchange for three players – Paul Broderick, Michael Gale and Matthew Dundas.
To this day, however, he is fondly remembered by the Yellow and Black faithful for being a shining light during a particularly bleak time for the Tigers.
