Richmond has set a record for the most teenage players it has debuted in the first two rounds of an AFL/VFL season.

In the Tigers’ 117-year League football history, never before had they had four teenagers making their debuts across the opening two rounds of a season – until now.

Harry Armstrong was 18 years, 272 days of age, when he made his debut in Round 1, Sam Lalor was 18 years, 195 days and Luke Trainor 18 years, 337 days.

Then, in last Saturday’s Round 2 match against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, Liam Fawcett played his first senior game for Richmond, aged 19 years, 334 days.

Fawcett became the Tigers’ 14th AFL debutant overall since the start of the 2023 season, and the 22nd since the 2020 premiership year.

Those numbers are set to increase significantly by the end of the 2025 season, with five other talented youngsters from the Club’s extraordinary national draft haul last year – Josh Smillie, Jonty Faull, Taj Hotton, Tom Sims and Jasper Alger – all good chances to debut, along with 2024 mid-season rookie draft selection Campbell Gray.
