Dustin Martin (managed) will miss Saturday night's clash at Optus Stadium after being subbed out of last weekend’s loss to Carlton due to back soreness.
Speaking to the media on Thursday morning, senior coach Adem Yze said the six-day break and interstate travel were important considerations for the 33-year-old.
He’ll be replaced by 23-year-old forward Noah Cumberland, who has been recalled for his seventh outing of the season after racking up 14 second-half disposals in the VFL Tigers' win over Carlton last weekend.
"His ball use going inside-50 was outstanding," VFL coach Steve Morris said of Cumberland's performance.
"And it was pleasing to see him lead the team with six tackles."
Richmond’s three emergencies for Round 17 are James Trezise, Steely Green and Thomson Dow.

Yze said the Tigers were looking forward to the challenge against an in-form Freo.
"Their midfield are in really good form, their offence is up and going, and they're really hard to play against," Yze said.
"We model our game similar to the way that they play. We've got some troops back (since the two sides played in Round 8) which will be nice, and we've got to match them inside.
"Our boys can't wait to get over there."
The Round 17 clash at Optus Stadium begins at 8.10pm AEST (6:10pm local time), and can be viewed live on Channel 7, Fox Footy and Kayo Sports.
