The amazing drawing power of Richmond champion Dustin Martin and the power of the Tiger Army were on magnificent display at the MCG last Saturday.
Martin’s 300-game milestone against Hawthorn attracted an extraordinary attendance of 92,311.

It was the Tigers’ biggest-ever crowd for a clash with the Hawks, their second-largest home-and-away crowd ever, biggest home-and-away crowd for 47 years, and the eighth highest home-and-away crowd in AFL/VFL history.
Had it been a normal home-and-away match between the two teams at this stage of the season, a crowd of 40-45,000 would most likely have been the maximum.

Dusty’s incredible popularity with Yellow and Black barrackers, due to his phenomenal football feats at Tigerland, ensured the crowd grew to astonishing proportions.
The triple Norm Smith Medallist was single-handedly responsible for Richmond attracting around an extra 50,000 to its Round 14 home game.
And the fact that the Tiger Army turned up in such massive numbers, despite the team having posted only two wins from 13 games this season, further highlighted the Club’s strong, staunch supporter base.
Here is a list of the top five home-and-away crowds in Richmond’s history . . .
1. Round 4, 1977 v Collingwood, MCG (Anzac Day and Tommy Hafey’s first game coaching against the Tigers) – 92,436.
