Richmond’s star spearhead, Jack Riewoldt, smashed a personal hoodoo with his superb, seven-goal performance against St Kilda at the MCG last Friday night.
In four previous Round 2 matches during his league career, Riewoldt had managed a total of just one goal.
He scored that goal against Geelong in Round 2 of the 2009 season at Simonds Stadium, in a game Richmond lost by 20 points.

Then, for the next three seasons in succession, Riewoldt went goalless in Round 2, the Tigers losing to the Western Bulldogs by 72 points at Etihad Stadium in 2010, drawing with St Kilda at the MCG in 2011 (when he was sidelined early in the game with concussion), and going down to Collingwood by 21 points at the MCG in 2012.
In Round 2, 2013, with Riewoldt firing, Richmond was able to break through and notch a 17-point win, to give it a 2-0 start to the season.
He took his personal goal tally against St Kilda, in his past four full games (so not including that Round 2, 2011 fixture), to 28, having kicked six in Round 11, 2010 at Etihad Stadium, seven at Etihad in Round 21, 2010, and eight at the same venue in Round 10, 2012, to go with his haul of seven last Friday night at the ‘G’.
