Richmond will return to Tasmania for the first time since 2010, when it takes on Hawthorn in Launceston in round three of the 2013 pre-season competition.

It will be only the third time the Tigers have played an official fixture in Tasmania.

The match will be played at Aurora Stadium on Saturday, March 9, commencing at 1.10pm.

Richmond has great links into Tasmania. In fact, no other AFL club in the land could point to such significant links.

Some of the greatest names the game has seen hailed from Tasmania and played at Richmond, including:

  • Royce Hart - Four-time premiership player and centre half forward in the AFL Team of the Century
  • Matthew Richardson - 282 games, 800 goals, three-time All Australian
  • Ian Stewart - Triple Brownlow Medallist and 1973 premiership player
  • Michael Roach - Two-time Coleman Medallist and one of only two Richmond players to kick 100 goals, and member of 1980 premiership side
  • Jack Riewoldt - Two-time Coleman Medallist
  • Brendon Gale - 244 games and current chief executive of the Richmond Football Club
