Richmond’s recruiting manager Francis Jackson summarises the three players the Tigers picked up in today’s rookie draft . . .

Pick No. 12 – Callum Moore (Calder Cannons/Vic Metro)
“Callum Moore’s a Calder Cannons boy, a 19-year-old, who also played for Vic Metro.  He’s generally played forward, but we think, at 193cm, he has an opportunity perhaps to play as a key defender.  He’s very, very quick and can also take a really good, contested mark.  We think his versatility may enable him to play both ends of the ground.”

Pick No. 30 – Mabior Chol (Aspley/Queensland under 18s)
“Mabior’s a fantastic story . . . a Sudanese boy who played for Queensland in the (under-18s) carnival and also for Aspley in the NEAFL competition.  He had a few breakout games.  The first one was a trial game against Vic Country early in the year.  And, I think probably his best game, he saved until the last game of the year, at the MCG on Grand Final day against the AFL Academy.  He just displayed tremendous mobility for a boy of 198cm, kicked the ball really well and made terrific decisions.  He brings fabulous athleticism . . . I think if you check the Draft Combine repeat speed testing of 80 players, we got Daniel Rioli, ranked one, Oleg Markov, ranked two, and Mabior Choi was ranked three, which is amazing for a 198cm player.”

Pick No. 47 – Adam Marcon (Williamstown)
“Once again, this is a win for perseverance.  I just thought Adam had done everything to justify a position on an AFL list.  He’s worked tirelessly and it’s just reward.  He played 19 VFL games with Williamstown this year, I think he averaged 23 touches, eight tackles a game, and he worked really hard.  I’m delighted to add him to our list because it’s thoroughly deserved.”
