In the wake of Jacob Koschitzke’s trade to Tigerland from Hawthorn, Tony Greenberg lists the top five Richmond players recruited from the Hawks that he has seen in his time as a Yellow and Black barracker.

Midfielder. At Hawthorn (1975-1978): 82 games, 78 goals. Member of the Hawks’ 1976 premiership team. At Richmond (1979-1986): 152 games, 117 goals. Member of the Tigers’ 1980 premiership team. Jack Dyer Medal winner in 1979. Club captain 1983-1984.

2. Peter Welsh
Utility. At Hawthorn (1973-1978): 79 games, 9 goals. Member of the Hawks’ 1975 Grand Final side. At Richmond (1980-1984): 46 games, 45 goals. Member of the Tigers’ 1980 premiership team.

3. Greg Dear
Ruckman. At Hawthorn (1985-1993): 137 games, 18 goals. Triple Hawks premiership player (1986, 1988, 1989). At Richmond (1994-1996): 53 games, 9 goals.

4. Alan Martello
Key defender/forward. At Hawthorn (1970-1980): 223 games, 164 goals. Triple Hawks premiership player (1971, 1976, 1978). At Richmond (1981-1983): 32 games, 3 goals.  Member of the Tigers’ 1982 Grand Final side.

5. Ian Scrimshaw
Utility. At Hawthorn (1974-1975): 19 games, 20 goals. At Richmond (1976-1981): 40 games, 26 goals.
